Perkins Engines Company Limited was established in the UK in 1932 and they primarily manufacture diesel engines, but also petrol engines. Those engines are used in a number of different industries including agriculture, construction, power generation and materials handling. Sales were good and by late 1930’s Perkins were manufacturing two series of engines, the P4 and P6.
The company set up a number of licensees for local manufacturing and sale, just after the war. Perkins was purchased by its largest customer, Massey Ferguson in 1959, but it kept its separate identity as Perkins Engines and in 1994, it became a subsidiary of LucasVarity. Perkins diesel engines have been used in brands such as Ford, Dodge, Ranquel and Grosspal.
